Problem #1

Before                                      After

Answer:

I took the eye that was on the cat and carefully cut out the eye by using the magnetic lasso tool.  Once I had the eye by itself I flipped it and rotated the eye.  To make it look like I did not rotate the eye I made sure that the eye was on the same level as the other eye.

Problem # 2

Answer:

I took a large part of the girl’s face and flipped it over to make it in the exact position.  The tool that I used to make it look smiliar i used the smudge tool.  For the paper, I took a section from the newspaper where it was wrinkled a lot.

Class Task#5-Born into Brothels

February 8, 2008 at 4:06 am (Class Tasks)

  1. How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?
I personally enjoyed the film because I couldn’t believe how caring and sweet the lady Zana was to the children of Calcutta.  People like Zana are very hard to find because no one does so much for another childs future or education.  What stood out for me the most was that the children in Calcutta are so talented in taking pictures with a camera that is not even high tech.
  2. Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?
Yes, I did learn a lot of new things about photography, life, and people.  I learned that you don’t need high tech cameras to take magnificant pictures.  Secondly, I learned that a picture doesn’t just have to show a face of an individual but the feelings and environment of the picture. I also learned that for some children in the third world country the people around them do not have a very good impact on them or set them to the right decision.  The life for these children in Calcutta is very hectic and miserable after watching that movie.  They live in a very bad and unsafe enivronment and society.
  3. How do you think the world needs to change? How important is this?
I think the world needs to change a lot and by doing that we should all contribute as one and help the women and girls out there who are being physically abused and used.  It also needs to change by taking a good look at the children and others of the third world country and what they are suffering off.  Everyone needs to become more less selfish in order for us to help those kind of people in the third world country.  It is very important for us because everyone needs to be less selfish and help otheres a lot more just to give them some hope and support.
  4. What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part of that change?
I as a human being I am willing to help others.  In order for me to be successful in helping others I am willing to fundraise and do all sorts of charity events to collect money and support poeple in the third world country to help them have a better future and education at the same time.
  5. Do you know a good song/rap/poem with good lyrics about change in the world? Post a link or lyrics to share it with us.
    Song Name:
Waiting on the World to Change
Artist(Band): John MayerMe and all my friends
    We’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There’s no way we ever could
Now we see everything is going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat itSo we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
    We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Its hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
    So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to changeNow if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would’ve never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
    When you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cuz when they own the information ooohhh,
They can bend it all they want

    So while we’re waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
    We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It’s not that we don’t care
We just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

    We’re still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
    We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
    One day our generation
    Is gonna rule the population

So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
No, we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
    We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change.

  6. Pick a non-profit organization that is important to you? Do they have a website?
A non-profit organization that is important to me is the Sick Kids Foundation.  Sick Kids Foundation is important to me because they work their best to make each and everyone of the children there feel special inside about themselves.   This organization’s environment is absolutely amazing because they give each child hope to be able to do certain things that they can’t do that we can do.
    http://sickkidsfoundation.com/
  7. What ideas do you have for media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these organizations that are important to us?
Some ideas that I have for media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these organizations that are important to us are do a lot of fundrasing around the school and run charity events, make cards for children on their birthday or special occations, and as a class each student can make a special page reflecting something and at the end we can put it into a scrapbook and give it to the organization.

Class Task #4- Understanding Resolution

January 21, 2008 at 1:46 am (Class Tasks)

Questions and Answers =)

1. Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?

Yes, a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image would be clearer when printed out at the same size because you will be able to notice the details in the image.  For example, if you were to print out a 72 dpi image it wouldn’t be clearer because it would be to small and you won’t be able to notice a lot of the details in the image.  As a result the image would be blurry.

2. What would a picture created at 1 dpi look like?

A picture created at 1 dpi would look like something really small becuase it would be really small.  You wouldn’t be able to see or notice anything in the picture because it’s not big enough to see anything.

Wand Tool =)

Questions and Answers =)

1. The combination of tools that i used to isolate the fruit in “fruit_combo.jpg was the magnetic lasso and the eraser.  I used the magnetic lasso tool to trace or go over my picture so that way I can get rid of the background image.  I used the eraser tool to even out the edges from the fruit bowl, and to remove the extra detail which was around the fruit bowl.

2. Out of the 3 methods I used to isolate the 3 images, I found that the magnetic lasso tool was the most effective for this case because I was able to isolate the image much faster.

3. a) For this particular part, the image starts to become smaller or bigger according to the size of the pixel.

     b) For this particular part, the image starts to become bigger or smaller according to the size of the pixel.

     c) For this particular part, the image tends to become flowing and gives off a white glow in order to hide specific egdes and blend everything together.
